Fallen tree

Lea Parish Council wish to explain why the following decisions were made.

Firstly, in situations where incidents such as a major tree falling in the park, Lea Parish Council are required to seek professional advice and act upon it accordingly. Attached is a copy of the written statement by Mike Finch, arborist.

Secondly, it was suggested that people should have been allowed to remove the tree. Again, advice from the insurance company confirmed that if Lea Parish Council granted permission for the tree to be cut up and removed they would need to ensure that any person undertaking such work would need to prove they had full Public Liability Insurance and a licence to use a chainsaw. Permitting anyone without these documents would put Council members in breech of the park's insurance.

Acting on both these pieces of information Council resolved to leave the fallen tree in Lea Park in situ.
